Overview

Salzburg and Linz Airport, Comfortably Connected

Linz Airport, officially the Blue Danube Airport in Hörsching, is the gateway to Upper Austria and the country's third largest city. It sits about 130 kilometres from Salzburg, a distance we cover along the A1 West motorway in roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. It is one of the most direct connections in the country: you leave Salzburg heading east, pass Mondsee, Vöcklabruck and Wels, and reach the airport without changing route once.

We drive this stretch in both directions. Whether you need to reach a flight departing from Linz, or you have just landed at the Blue Danube Airport and want to continue comfortably to Mozart's city, to the lakes of the Salzkammergut or to your hotel, you stay in the same vehicle, with the same chauffeur, from the first metre to the last, at the same fixed price agreed in advance.

Linz Airport handles scheduled and charter traffic, though the choice of routes is modest. Many of our guests therefore deliberately fly via Salzburg Airport (SZG, W. A. Mozart), which lies just minutes from the city centre and offers a far denser network. We serve both airports, of course. Simply tell us which one you are arriving at or departing from, and we plan the pickup accordingly.

Our fleet consists of current Mercedes models: the E-Class for one to three travellers, the V-Class and Vito for families, groups and generous luggage. You step into an immaculate, air-conditioned vehicle with leather seats, chilled water and onboard Wi-Fi. Travel in complete silence if you wish, or let your chauffeur share tips on Salzburg, the Salzkammergut and Upper Austria.

Behind VPC Premium Transfer stands a local team that drives these routes daily and knows every roadworks zone, every rush hour and every weather pattern. We track your flight in real time, automatically adjust the pickup if it is delayed, and wait within the agreed grace period at no extra charge. Your journey begins or ends exactly as calmly as it should.

What This Route Is Really Like

S

Stefan Reiter

Stefan Reiter, Senior Chauffeur and Upper Austria Route Lead

The drive between Salzburg and Linz Airport is one I genuinely enjoy, because it is so straightforward. We stay on the A1 West almost the entire way, and after the Voralpenkreuz interchange the gentle hills of Upper Austria open up to the right. We reach the airport in Hörsching via a short, well signposted exit. If we are early, I like to point out the view back towards the mountains that stay with you all the way to Wels.

My most important tip concerns timing. Around Linz and Wels the motorway builds up noticeably on weekdays between 7 and 8.30 in the morning and again in the late afternoon. We factor this in and set off earlier accordingly, so you reach the terminal relaxed even at peak hours. In winter I add further reserve on the A1: Salzburg and the foothills often see snow, and I would rather drive calmly and safely than rush.

I openly suggest to many guests that they check Salzburg Airport before booking a flight from Linz. SZG sits right by the city and has more connections, especially in summer and the ski season. Whichever you choose, simply tell us: we collect you at both airports and bring you back just as reliably. That dependability is exactly why our guests have returned to us year after year.

Frequently asked questions

WhatsApp
How far is it from Salzburg to Linz Airport and how long does the drive take?+

It is about 130 kilometres along the A1 West motorway, which we cover in roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. We add extra reserve for heavy traffic around Linz and Wels or for snow in winter.

Do you also serve Salzburg Airport instead of Linz?+

Yes. As Linz Airport (LNZ) offers only a modest network, many guests fly via Salzburg Airport (SZG), which is close to the centre and has more connections. We serve both airports, simply tell us which suits you.

Where do I meet my chauffeur at the airport?+

Your chauffeur waits with a name sign in the arrivals hall, after baggage reclaim. He helps with your luggage and walks you straight to the waiting vehicle. We confirm the exact meeting point in advance.

What happens if my flight is delayed?+

We track your flight in real time and adjust the pickup time automatically. We wait within the agreed grace period at no extra charge, so you have nothing to worry about.

Can you carry plenty of luggage, skis or child seats?+

Yes. For generous luggage or skis we choose the V-Class or Vito. Baby, child and booster seats are provided free of charge and correctly fitted, just state the age and number of children in your request.

Do you drive safely on the A1 in winter as well?+

Of course. In winter our vehicles run on winter tyres, and we carry snow chains when needed. On wintry sections we drive calmly with extra time reserve so you arrive safely and on time.

How and when do I pay?+

You receive a binding flat rate at booking, with no meter. Payment is convenient by credit card, PayPal or, if you prefer, in the vehicle. There are no hidden surcharges for night, weekend, tolls or luggage.

Can I cancel free of charge?+

Yes, free cancellation is possible up to the time stated in your confirmation. If plans change at short notice, simply contact us, we usually find a flexible solution for you.
