Salzburg Airport · 4 km to the old town

The airport sits closer to Mozart's birthplace than most hotels do.

Salzburg W. A. Mozart Airport (IATA: SZG) sits 4.2 kilometres from Mirabell Gardens – an average 9-minute drive. But precisely because it's short, it shouldn't be dull. We meet you in person, know which hotel entrance you want, and know the concierges.

SZG – small airport, large ambition

1.8 million passengers a year, 60% of them in winter – that's the real identity of Mozart Airport.

Salzburg Airport is Austria's second-largest after Vienna. Unlike Vienna, however, it's highly seasonal: in winter charter flights from London, Manchester, Dublin and Scandinavia dominate – ski travellers heading directly to Zell am See, Saalbach or Kitzbühel. In summer, scheduled flights from Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Vienna take over, along with travellers for the Salzburg Festival.

Precisely because many guests don't stay in the city but drive onward, SZG transfer is a different service category. We often combine it with a direct onward transfer to Zell am See (45 min), Bad Gastein (85 min) or Saalbach (55 min). You step off the plane, meet us at the exit, and your next stop is your hotel in the ski region – no intermediate transfer.

For short distance within Salzburg city: most guests are surprised a 9-minute ride is worth a €45 flat rate. What they don't see: the short-term parking (€3/h), free waiting up to 90 min on flight delay, luggage assistance, the premium car. With a family carrying 4 ski bags, the maths flips quickly.

Salzburg Airport is a winter ski hub. Every Saturday between 09:00 and 14:00 there are 12 to 18 charter flights from UK, Netherlands and Scandinavia. Each carries about 80 skiers, all wanting to be at their resort hotel within 60 minutes. We coordinate that with six Vito vehicles in parallel, three V-Class and a reserve E-Class.

The trick: we receive flight manifests 12 hours in advance, sort guests by resort destination (Saalbach → Vito A, Kitzbühel → Vito B, Bad Gastein → V-Class C), and our chauffeurs are ready with tablet and name sign by the time the first bag hits the belt. Average time from stepping off the plane to sitting in the car: 22 minutes. Drive time to Zell am See: 45 min. You've checked into your hotel by 13:30 – that beats any rental-car plan.

What many don't know: we also do "group charter" transfers for whole parties. A family of 14 with 14 ski sets fits in two Vitos in convoy. We coordinate so both arrive at the hotel together.

WhatsApp
Is a transfer worth it for only 4 km?+

With ski gear, small kids, business attire or in rain: yes. A local cab costs €18–25 but has no meet & greet, no fixed waiting time, no premium car. For larger groups (>3) and luggage, our per-head flat rate is comparable to public transport.

Does Salzburg Airport handle intercontinental flights?+

Directly no – SZG handles Schengen + UK/Ireland. For intercontinental flights use Munich (MUC, 1h 45 away) or Vienna (VIE, 3h 10 away). We run flat-rate transfers to both.

Where do we meet at SZG?+

Standard: arrivals hall exit, opposite the Avis counter. For VIP service we meet you at the gate (€30 supplement). In car park P1 we wait on level 2 with a parking ticket.

Are onward ski-resort transfers timed to flights?+

Yes. We coordinate pickup using live flight data. On delay, the whole transfer shifts automatically – you don't miss the hotel arrival window.

Can I ship ski equipment to the airport in advance?+

Yes, several services deliver to SZG luggage storage. We collect ski gear from there on your arrival – just forward us the booking confirmation.

What waiting time applies for flight delays?+

First 90 minutes after scheduled landing free. Beyond that €0.40/minute on short-haul transfers (vs €0.50 on long-haul).

Do you offer champagne reception?+

Yes, for a €45 supplement: bottle of Veuve Clicquot or Schlumberger, two glasses in the car. Popular for honeymooners and anniversaries.

Do you accept EU pet passports?+

Yes, dogs with valid EU pet passport are welcome. In winter we carry blankets and a water bowl. Please note size in advance.

How many stops are included in the flat rate?+

Up to two stops in Salzburg city free. Each additional €5. On onward ski-resort transfers, one intermediate stop at hotel + ski rental is free.

Can I combine SZG transfer with a city tour?+

Yes – popular combo: SZG pickup, 3-hour city tour, hotel drop-off. Combo flat rate from €280 (E-Class), €320 (V-Class).
