Meet & Greet

The first 90 seconds after arrival decide how your whole trip will feel.

We understand a tired traveller doesn't need a "transport provider" – they need a familiar face holding their name. Meet & greet is standard on every transfer we run – not an upgrade but a given.

What meet & greet really means

It's more than a person with a sign – it's an orchestrated 14-step protocol.

A standard meet & greet begins 90 minutes before your landing. Our dispatch syncs your flight number with AviationStack live data. The chauffeur gets a push notification with landing time, baggage belt number (once the airline releases it) and approach recommendation. 15 minutes before scheduled landing the vehicle parks in the designated bay; the chauffeur walks into the arrivals hall.

At the welcome itself there are two styles: "discreet" (name sign without company logo, neutral demeanour) and "branded" (sign with company logo and VPC identity). Which we use depends on the guest's preference – business travellers usually pick discreet, families and honeymooners often branded for the better photo.

The greeting line isn't accidental. We train our chauffeurs: "Mr/Ms [Surname], welcome to Salzburg. May I take your main suitcase?" No small talk, no flight questions, no "What can I offer you?" in the first 90 seconds. The conversation starts once the guest is seated, has accepted or declined water, and the first seatbelt buckle clicks.

From the meet-&-greet trainer

"The hardest thing I teach new chauffeurs is not to talk."

E

Erika S.

Reception trainer · since 2016

Our training has an exercise called the "silence drill". The trainee chauffeur escorts a guest from arrival to car using no more than 18 words. Sounds easy, isn't. Most new chauffeurs feel an urge to ask "How was your flight?", "Is that all your luggage?", "Do you need anything else?" – courtesies that turn into stress under fatigue.

The secret: arrivals signal what they need with body language. A guest still on a phone call doesn't want to be addressed. A guest smiling and seeking eye contact welcomes small talk. A guest with eye bags after a night flight just wants to get into the car. We read those signals and shape our behaviour around them – not the other way round.

The best moment in a meet & greet isn't the greeting – it's the second the guest closes the car door and visibly relaxes. I tell every chauffeur: if the guest smiles or sighs in that moment, you've won. If they start to talk, you've won even more.
