Salzburg → VIE
295 kilometres along the western motorway, past the Mostviertel, through Lower Austria – the only route in Europe linking Salzburg to the Vienna basin in a single uninterrupted ride. We build in buffer time for the A1 bottleneck at St. Pölten and recommend departing 4 hours before boarding.
Salzburg–Vienna is Austria's most-travelled inter-city link. Most travellers take the Railjet from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof: comfortable, fast, every 30 minutes. That's the right choice 80% of the time. But there are situations where rail doesn't fit: a 05:30 departure from Vienna Schwechat (Railjet only starts at 05:05 and can't make it), heavy luggage or ski gear, VIP guests with security needs, business meetings that need to happen on the way.
We collect from central Salzburg at 02:30 and reach VIE Terminal 3 by 05:40 on a clear road – time for bag-drop, security and an espresso at the gate. For mid-morning flights we travel more relaxed: 09:00 departure, optional 25-minute stop at Strengberg-Mostviertel service area (farmers' buffet with Kaiserschmarrn), arrival 12:45. You've banked three hours of comfortable Wi-Fi work.
On the route itself three points matter: the A1 bottleneck at St. Pölten (can cost 20 minutes under roadworks), the Vienna outer ring S1 (alternative entry to VIE when the inner-Vienna junction jams), and our assigned toll lane at Walserberg, since we run digital Austrian vignettes – no manual paying.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Flat rate from |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | 1–3 | €580 flat |
| Mercedes V-Class | 1–7 | €640 flat |
| Mercedes Vito (ski gear) | 1–8 | €680 flat |
All fares include Austrian vignette, every toll segment (A1, S1, Tauern tunnel if applicable), meet & greet on return, 60 min waiting, Wi-Fi and all taxes included. Night surcharge 22:00–06:00: +15%. Round-trip discount 10%.
V-Class carries a rear folding desk for laptop work on a 3-hour ride.
Dedicated mobile hotspots, separate from chauffeur phone, video-call capable.
Sound-dampening partition in Executive class; chauffeur speaks only when addressed.
PDF within 48h after the ride, EU expense-claim compatible.
One number for all enquiries – no call centre.
NDA on request; chauffeurs are bound to discretion on business conversations.

I've driven the Salzburg–Vienna route since 2008, on average four times a week. What I've learned: business travellers fall into three categories. First the "focus workers" – they get in, open the laptop and don't speak for 2 hours 50. For this group I keep climate control at 21.5 °C, the Wi-Fi password printed on a card facing their seat, and I don't ask if they'd like a drink.
Second the "talkers" – after 90 minutes of meetings they want a relaxed conversation. With this group I talk about Mostviertel apple blossom (April), the history of St. Pölten station (rebuilt in 1980 for security reasons), or the A1 tunnel refurbishment (running 2024–2027). Smalltalk with substance.
Third the "exhausted" – the last guest of the day or Friday evening. They nod off within 30 minutes. We carry blankets and seat heating; I drive especially smoothly, no sharp braking. When they step out, 90% won't remember how fast the time went. That's the highest service standard I know.

WhatsAppFor flights before 07:00, definitely – no Railjet makes it in time. With heavy luggage, with children, with confidential business calls, or when you start at a Salzburg city hotel, the car is more comfortable and equally fast as train + taxi.
4 hours before boarding for intercontinental, 3.5 hours for Schengen. We send written recommendations with weather and traffic forecasts 24 hours in advance.
Strengberg-Mostviertel service area (farmer's buffet) is the standard break. Business-trip stops in Linz (Voestalpine, Designcenter), Amstetten or St. Pölten are possible for an additional fee.
All our vehicles have automatic plate recognition linked to the Austrian Asfinag vignette system. We pass toll lanes without stopping.
VIE has a central Terminal 3 with Schengen, international and business-lounge zones. Drop-off right at the entrance with a brief luggage halt.
Yes, for a supplement: Vienna Schwechat → inner Vienna 1010 adds €60 (35 min drive). Popular after flight cancellations needing direct hotel check-in.
Mobile hotspot 100 Mbps with T-Mobile + A1 failover. Video calls run stable on 90% of the route. A dead zone between Strengberg and Amstetten covers about 8 km.
Of course. V-Class and Vito offer lounge-style comfort and lounge-style seating. In E-Class the chauffeur is discreet and respects confidential rear-seat conversations.
Recommended from age 2. We use Cybex Sirona Plus seats with i-Size certification. Blanket and water are ready; breaks every 60–90 minutes are wise.
Round-trip earns 10% on both legs. Waiting at Vienna up to 90 min after landing is free; beyond that €0.50/min standby.
