What happens on arrival

From stepping off at the gate to your first espresso in Salzburg averages two hours and ten minutes.

You land at Munich Airport, Germany's second largest. While you walk to baggage reclaim – about 12 minutes on average – our chauffeur is already at your terminal exit. He checks live data from our dispatch system: your flight number, the assigned baggage belt, the estimated reclaim time. For Schengen flights from Vienna or Frankfurt that's typically 15–25 minutes. For non-Schengen flights from London or New York, 35–55 minutes.

As soon as you step out of the baggage area, you'll see a chauffeur holding a sign reading "VPC Premium · YOUR NAME". He greets you in German or English – whichever you chose at booking. He takes your main luggage and guides you 6–9 minutes to the designated parking area (typically P8 or P20, depending on terminal). The vehicle is already climate-controlled, water ready, in winter the seats pre-warmed.

Then the drive to Salzburg begins. 150 kilometres along the A92, A99, A8 and finally A1 to Walserberg. We cross the German-Austrian border at km 137 – usually without stopping, but on random-check days with a brief inspection. Keep your passport or ID handy. Arrival in central Salzburg is typically 1h 45 after pickup.

Your first impression of Salzburg

"The final 25 minutes of the drive are the most valuable – I prep you for what you'll see tomorrow."

Thomas R.

Senior chauffeur · arrival specialist

When guests arrive in Salzburg for the first time, long-haul fatigue is real. Our job is to keep the first 90 minutes of the drive calm – some guests sleep, others want to watch the window in silence, many are checking email. We respect that without small-talk.

The final 25 minutes – from Wals-Siezenheim into the centre – we use differently. If the guest wants, I narrate what's on the left and right: Schloss Hellbrunn (in the hills to the right), the "Mozart's birthplace" sign, the Salzach with its typical glacier-green meltwater. I mention which restaurant typically holds a tonight reservation on time, and which old-town gate is still lit after 22:00.

What I don't do: tip off hotel staff. If the Hotel Sacher is expecting you, we'll pause 7 minutes early just outside the entrance so the doorman has time to open the door and greet you by name. That's a small choreography between concierge and chauffeur that every Salzburg premium provider knows – and it's the difference between an arrival and a mere drop-off.

Common questions before arrival

WhatsApp
Where exactly do we meet at Munich Airport?+

Standard: arrivals hall exit of your terminal (T1 or T2), between the "Meeting Point" area and the café. With lounge pickup (€45 supplement) we collect you at the gate itself.

What if I lose my luggage?+

The chauffeur waits up to 3 hours free of charge, accompanies you to lost-and-found if you wish, and helps with the English form. For serious delays we propose rebooking the next day.

Do I have to get out at the Walserberg border?+

No, in 95% of cases we cross without stopping. Random checks may apply – you just need your ID or passport, no need to step out.

Can you drop off in Salzburg suburbs (Anif, Hellbrunn, Wals)?+

Yes, at no extra cost. Hellbrunn, Anif, Wals-Siezenheim, Bergheim and Aigen are included. For locations more than 15 km outside the city we add €1.50/extra km.

What does waiting time beyond 90 minutes cost?+

€0.50 per minute, transparently itemised. In practice long waits are rare – our automatic flight monitoring means we arrive later for a 2-hour delay rather than waiting at the terminal.

Do you accept cash in EUR or USD?+

Euro yes, USD only in emergencies at the day's exchange rate. We recommend online payment via Stripe/PayPal or EC-card in the vehicle.

Do you offer child seats compatible with US standards?+

We use ECE R44/04 and R129 (i-Size) certified seats – meeting or exceeding US FMVSS-213. Please state age and weight at booking.

When should I book?+

At least 48 hours before landing for chauffeur scheduling. Same-day last-minute is something we always try, subject to availability.

What if I don't know which terminal I arrive at?+

No problem – we redirect the chauffeur an hour before landing based on the airline. Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss = T2. Easyjet, Ryanair, British Airways, Air France = T1.

Do you offer shared transfers for our group?+

No – our model is exclusively private. For groups over 8 we organise a two-vehicle convoy arriving at the hotel together.
