Overview

Your limousine service in Salzburg: discreet, punctual, reliable

A limousine service is judged by the moments when nothing is allowed to go wrong. The board meeting at 8:30 in the city centre, the premiere at the Großes Festspielhaus, the bride who must arrive at the church to the minute. Those are the moments we drive for. VPC Premium Transfer is an owner-run chauffeur company based in Salzburg, and we treat every journey as if it were the most important of the day, because for our guest it usually is.

Our fleet consists of current Mercedes models: the S-Class for guests who expect the highest level of comfort and presence, the E-Class as an elegant business saloon, and the V-Class for delegations, families or groups of up to seven. Every vehicle is black, immaculately kept, and in a condition you can present to the most demanding guest without hesitation. Still water, charging cables and Wi-Fi on board go without saying.

Our chauffeurs appear in suit and tie, speak German and English, often further languages, and know when conversation is welcome and when silence is the better companion. Discretion is not a slogan for us: many of our regular clients are executives, artists and public figures whose appointments and back-seat conversations stay exactly where they belong.

You can book a point-to-point journey at a fixed rate, for example from Salzburg Airport (SZG) to the Hotel Sacher or on to Munich and Vienna, or engage car and chauffeur by the hour. Hourly hire is ideal for days with several appointments, roadshows, weddings, or evenings during the Salzburg Festival, when your car is already waiting outside after the final curtain while other guests are still looking for a ride.

Salzburg's hotels and concierges have worked with us for years because they know that what we confirm happens. Corporate clients travel on account with consolidated invoicing, and we support event agencies with the full transport logistics of congresses, incentives and galas. You will find your binding fixed rate in our booking calculator; for larger projects we are happy to talk in person.

Notes from a Salzburg chauffeur

Stefan Reiter

Stefan Reiter, Senior Chauffeur

The festival weeks in July and August are our supreme discipline. The Hofstallgasse is closed to normal traffic, access to the festival district is strictly regulated, and anyone who does not know the procedures leaves their guest walking hundreds of metres in an evening gown. We know where the drop-off for accredited vehicles is, when the performance at the Haus für Mozart actually ends, and where we wait in the meantime so the car is standing ready at the final applause.

With business clients something else matters: calm and reliability. Many guests prepare their presentation in the back of the S-Class or take calls that are nobody else's business. In those moments I do not say one sentence more than necessary. And I am always on site ten minutes before the agreed time, because a chauffeur who keeps his guest waiting has failed at his profession.

One piece of practical advice: for days with several appointments, book the hourly option instead of individual journeys. Distances in Salzburg's old town are short, but parking is scarce. When car and chauffeur stay with you throughout, you lose no time between meetings, and your coat and documents simply stay in the car. That is exactly what a limousine service is for.

Local Insider Knowledge

Salzburg in Detail: Where Your Limousine Actually Stops

Anyone who does not drive Salzburg daily underestimates the Old Town. The left bank between Getreidegasse, Alter Markt and Residenzplatz is a pedestrian zone, accessible only with special permits and within narrow loading windows. Our chauffeurs therefore use fixed handover points that put you two to three minutes on foot from your destination: the forecourt of Hotel Sacher on Schwarzstrasse, the lay-by on Herbert-von-Karajan-Strasse right beside the Festival Halls, the Kajetanerplatz area for the right-bank inner city, and the Mönchsberg garage approach when the destination sits in the middle of Getreidegasse. At Hotel Goldener Hirsch the handover is coordinated with the concierge, since Getreidegasse itself cannot be driven.

The one-way system around the Staatsbrücke is the second place where out-of-town drivers lose time. The Rudolfskai axis runs outbound only; returning to the Neustadt means crossing the Staatsbrücke and using Rainerstrasse. Going from Hotel Bristol or the Sacher to the Festival Halls, the sensible route is not the shortest one but the drive through the Neutor tunnel under the Mönchsberg. Details like these decide whether you step out relaxed five minutes before curtain or sit in traffic on Franz-Josef-Kai. Our drivers also know the barrier and bollard systems on hotel approaches, for instance at Hotel Stein or on Auerspergstrasse, and announce the car to the doorman in advance when needed.

The season dictates the planning. During the Salzburg Festival from late July to late August, Hofstallgasse closes from late afternoon and the approach to the Grosses Festspielhaus runs through a police-managed access system that only registered chauffeur vehicles may enter. We reserve the access slots on the morning of the performance and time the hotel departure so you arrive about 25 minutes before curtain, early enough for the cloakroom, late enough to avoid the first arrival wave. After the performance the car does not wait somewhere vague; it waits at a pre-agreed point on Sigmundsgasse or at Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz, confirmed to you by message from your chauffeur.

Outside the festival summer there are dates we plan around as a matter of routine. On Advent weekends from mid-November to 24 December, coaches clog Mirabellplatz and the Christmas market, and the approach to the Neustadt can easily take twice as long. On winter Saturdays the ski changeover traffic rolls along the Tauern motorway; if you need the airport on a January Saturday, we recommend moving the pickup forward by half an hour. Add the Rupertikirtag fair around 24 September with Residenzplatz closed, home matches at the Klessheim stadium, and the Easter Festival, which demands the same Festival Hall logistics as the summer. All of this feeds automatically into how we calculate your pickup time.

For an airport pickup, the sequence runs to the minute. Your chauffeur tracks the flight from departure, is inside the terminal 15 minutes before landing, and stands with a name sign directly at the baggage hall exit; Salzburg Airport has a single arrivals level, so missing each other is practically impossible. He takes the luggage, the car waits on the forecourt steps from the terminal, no garage hunt, no shuttle. Four minutes after leaving the baggage hall you are seated in a climate-set Mercedes with water and charging ports ready, and your chauffeur has already checked live traffic towards the city centre, Anif or Fuschl.

What our guests say

"We had Festival tickets and no idea how one even drives up there. Our chauffeur took us in the S-Class right to Hofstallgasse, registered access slot included, and after the opera waited exactly at the agreed spot on Karajan-Platz. Evening gown, rain, no problem. This is how Salzburg should feel."

"Business meeting in Anif, landed 40 minutes late in Salzburg. The driver was still at the baggage hall with a name sign, car right outside the terminal. In the E-Class I could take calls and clear emails on the way. More reliable than any rental car and far less stressful."

"We booked the V-Class by the hour for an Advent day with six people. The chauffeur dropped us at Mirabellplatz, steered around the coach queues near the Christmas market and collected us later to the minute at Kajetanerplatz. Only the hotel pickup time could have been slightly later; otherwise flawless."

Good to know

Good to Know: Limousine Service in Salzburg

Our chauffeurs arrive in a dark suit and tie and greet you with a name sign at the agreed meeting point. Discretion is standard practice: conversations in the vehicle stay confidential, phone calls are never commented on, and on request the chauffeur will drive the entire route without conversation. For pickups at law firms, clinics or private addresses, you can request a neutral sign without a company logo whenever the occasion should not attract attention.

For corporate clients we can set up monthly invoicing: all journeys within a calendar month are collected, tagged with cost centres or project numbers, and issued as a single invoice with VAT itemised. Simply mention your internal reference when booking and it will appear on the document. Rides booked directly by your guests or employees can also run through a registered company account, so nothing needs to be paid in the vehicle.

Multi-stop itineraries are best specified at booking, for example hotel, dinner venue and return journey. This lets us calculate waiting times realistically, and the chauffeur stays with you throughout the evening. During the Festival weeks in July and August we recommend booking at least two weeks ahead, and three to four for premiere nights. Short-notice changes to your departure time are usually no problem up to two hours beforehand.

WhatsApp
Which vehicles are available in your limousine service?+

We operate current Mercedes models: the S-Class as our flagship for the highest expectations, the E-Class as an elegant business saloon, and the V-Class for up to seven passengers with plenty of luggage. All cars are black, fully air-conditioned and equipped with water, charging cables and Wi-Fi.

Can I book the limousine and chauffeur by the hour?+

Yes. Hourly hire is ideal for appointment days, weddings, roadshows or festival evenings. Car and chauffeur stay with you throughout, wait between stops and adapt flexibly to your schedule. The booking calculator shows the fixed rate for your desired duration.

How does the welcome at Salzburg Airport work?+

Your chauffeur tracks your flight live and awaits you with a name sign in the arrivals hall, at no extra charge in case of delays. He assists with your luggage and escorts you to the waiting car. On request we arrange the same service at Munich Airport.

Do you also drive to Munich or Vienna?+

Yes, long-distance journeys are part of our daily work. We regularly drive to Munich Airport, Vienna, the Salzkammergut and destinations across Austria, Germany and Switzerland. You travel door to door without changing, at a fixed rate confirmed in advance.

How late can I book?+

We accept planned journeys up to a few hours before departure, although during the festival season we recommend booking several days ahead, as demand for the S-Class and V-Class is very high then. Corporate account clients receive priority for short-notice requests.

Are your chauffeurs suitable for international guests?+

Yes. All chauffeurs speak German and English, some additional languages. They appear in suit and tie, are familiar with the expectations of international business and festival guests, and work with absolute discretion. On request we share your chauffeur's name in advance.

Can hotels and concierges book directly for their guests?+

With pleasure. We work with several Salzburg hotels and confirm concierge bookings in writing within a short time. Billing goes either through the guest or the hotel, with monthly consolidated invoicing on request.

How much does the limousine service cost?+

We work exclusively with fixed rates confirmed before the journey, with no surcharges for night hours, luggage or waiting time caused by flight delays. You can see your exact price for a point-to-point journey or hourly hire within seconds in our online booking calculator; larger projects are quoted individually on request.
