Long flight, long drive, one certainty: you sleep on the way.

Vienna Schwechat is Austria's gate to the world – direct flights from Tokyo, Doha, New York, Bangkok and Singapore. Travellers landing there for Salzburg often arrive after 12+ hours in the air. We turn the final 3h 10 into a blanket, an espresso and a Mercedes that delivers you gently.

What sets a VIE arrival apart

Vienna Schwechat handles more long-haul flights than Munich – and that changes the entire service architecture of our transfer.

Where Munich is a Schengen hub with mostly European routes, Vienna is Austria's Star Alliance gateway for routes from Doha (Qatar), Tokyo (ANA, Austrian), Bangkok (Thai), Singapore (Singapore Airlines), New York and Chicago (United, Austrian) and Dubai (Emirates). People landing here usually arrive after 12–18 hours of flying and need something different from someone fresh in from Frankfurt.

We calibrate the transfer accordingly. Our VIE chauffeurs are specifically trained for long-haul arrival service: they speak fluent English (Japanese, Mandarin or Russian on request), they know you don't want city-history monologues after a 13-hour flight, and they routinely switch on the Wi-Fi before your arrival because you'll likely want to ping family.

The vehicle itself is optimised for comfort: pre-heated seats (winter), cold-soaked towels and still water (summer), blankets, hand sanitiser, hand cream. The Mostviertel rest stop – a 15-minute pause at a farmer's service area with toilets and fresh apple juice – isn't about the route, it's for you. We recommend it to everyone arriving from a flight over 8 hours.

From the VIE specialist

"When a Tokyo passenger steps off, I don't ask 'how was your flight?'. I hand them water, switch on the seat heating and stay silent for the first 40 minutes."

Sebastian K.

Long-haul specialist · UHNW arrival certified

The biggest mistake less experienced chauffeurs make is small talk in the first 30 minutes after a long-haul arrival. Anyone who's just flown 13 hours has too much adrenaline, not enough sleep, and usually an emotional mix of relief and exhaustion. The last thing they should hear is "how was your flight?".

My protocol: greet by name, suggest a seat choice, load luggage, check seatbelt, then silence. Soft classical plays in the cabin (Mozart piano concertos – heading to Salzburg, it isn't intrusive). After 30 minutes I quietly ask whether to adjust climate or whether anyone fancies the Mostviertel stop. If the guest engages, the door for conversation is open. If not, I keep it closed.

For families with toddlers after a long-haul, I have a small trick: I offer water for the kids right away and a chocolate bar (with parents' permission). 95% of parents are grateful – kids are taken care of, parents can close their eyes for five minutes. That's the service hour nobody records, but everyone remembers.

Reviews from long-haul guests

"From Tokyo, 13 hours of flying. Sebastian said nothing for the first 40 minutes – that was perfect. Espresso would have been too much, cold water was exactly right."

Common questions before your arrival

Can't find your answer? Message us on WhatsApp – we typically reply within minutes.

WhatsApp
Where do we meet at VIE Terminal 3?+

Standard: arrivals hall central area, "Meeting Point South". For VIP service (€60 supplement) we collect at the gate. VIE has a dedicated reception lane for Star Alliance Gold – we use it if you tell us in advance.

How is the VIE transfer different from a MUC transfer?+

VIE is 295 km vs. 150 km. We build in the Mostviertel stop, longer seat-heating cycles, long-haul-trained staff. MUC is too short for a rest stop.

Can I sleep along the way?+

Absolutely. V-Class has reclining seats, Executive class has massage seats. We provide blankets and set climate to 22 °C. Mute your phone – we'll wake you 15 min before Salzburg.

Do you accept premium Visa and Mastercard cards directly?+

Yes – Sumup terminal in the vehicle, contactless up to €200, with PIN unlimited. Miles & More, Eurobonus and IHG points cannot be redeemed but you can collect them on this trip.

What if my luggage didn't arrive?+

The chauffeur waits up to 3 hours free, escorts you to lost-and-found and helps with the Austrian forms. For severe delays we offer a Vienna hotel overnight and reschedule the transfer to the next day.

Is English or Japanese available as chauffeur language?+

English is standard and free. Japanese and Mandarin are available with 72-hour notice for an €80 supplement. We coordinate via our multilingual pool.

Do you offer a business-lounge pickup?+

Yes, for Star Alliance Gold or Lufthansa Senator guests. We meet you at the Terminal 3 lounge exit with a sign. €60 supplement.

Is the A1 safe at night?+

Entirely. Lit, well-trafficked, farmer service areas open 24/7. Our vehicles carry an emergency button to dispatch and multi-checked tyres.

When should I book your transfer?+

For long-haul flights at least 72 hours ahead, since we schedule multilingual chauffeurs. Same-day last-minute we always try.

Can we stop in Linz for a meeting on the way?+

Yes, for a supplement. Linz sits 30 minutes off the A1 corridor. Up to 2 hours waiting flat €120, beyond that €60/hour.
