Private Transfer to Hotel Auersperg
Whether you step off a train at the main station, land in Salzburg early in the morning or arrive for a conference: we take you straight to Auerspergstrasse. Flat rate, luggage help and child seats for the whole family on request.
A green retreat in the quarter between the station and Mirabell
Hotel Auersperg sits at Auerspergstrasse 61, on the right bank of the Salzach in Salzburg's Neustadt, the new town. The family-run house is known for its own garden, something rare this close to the centre. From here you are a few minutes on foot from the main station, from Mirabell Palace and its gardens, and from the congress centre. The old town with Getreidegasse and the cathedral is an easy stroll across the Salzach bridges.
That location makes arriving a little different from the hotels right on the river or inside the old town. Auerspergstrasse is a quiet street of homes and hotels, access is straightforward, and our car can usually stop right outside the entrance. There is no pedestrian zone to drag your suitcases through and no bollards blocking a drop-off. For families with a pushchair or guests with heavy luggage, that is a real advantage.
From Salzburg Airport (SZG) we drive via the Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse and through the city towards the Neustadt. Depending on the time of day and traffic, the journey takes about 15 to 20 minutes. In the late afternoon, when commuter traffic crosses the Salzach bridges, it can take a little longer; early in the morning or in the evening you will often reach the hotel sooner than you expect.
Many Auersperg guests, however, do not arrive by plane at all. Salzburg is a major rail hub between Vienna, Munich and Innsbruck, and the main station is only a short walk away. So why book a transfer at all? Because a short walk with two large suitcases, a tired child and a rain shower looks very different from how it looks on a map. More on that below.
Arriving by rail or on an early flight: what to expect in each case
| Arrival at the main station | Early flight into Salzburg (SZG) | With our chauffeur | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Getting to the hotel | short walk, tiring with luggage | city bus or sort it out yourself | straight to the entrance |
| Meeting point | station forecourt, busy | arrivals hall | platform or arrivals hall with a name sign |
| Delays | replan your connection yourself | waiting at the airport | train and flight are tracked |
| Very early or late arrival | dark streets, little activity | limited bus service | bookable around the clock |
| Child seats | not needed, but children get carried | bring your own | fitted on request |
| Price | free on foot | ticket | flat rate, shown upfront |
Not every short distance is an easy one
We will be honest: if you arrive at the main station with light luggage on a sunny afternoon, you can easily walk to Hotel Auersperg. The route is short and runs through the Neustadt. A transfer is then a comfort rather than a necessity. It is a different story when you step off a long train journey from Vienna, Zurich or Venice with big suitcases, a pushchair or ski gear, when it is raining or snowing, or when your night train pulls in at dawn.
For these cases we can meet you right on the platform. Your chauffeur knows the train number, follows the arrival time and waits with a name sign where your carriage stops. He takes the luggage, walks with you through the station hall to the car, and after a few minutes' drive you are at the hotel. No searching for the right exit, no hauling cases over kerbs, no waiting on the forecourt.
An early flight is a different situation. If you land in Salzburg at six or seven in the morning, you face the question of how to get into town and what to do until check-in in the afternoon. Our advice from many such runs: ask the hotel beforehand whether early check-in is possible or whether you can leave your bags. We take you straight there, and you start the day without luggage, perhaps with breakfast in the Neustadt or a walk through the Mirabell Gardens, which open early in the morning.
The return journey matters just as much. Early departures from Salzburg or Munich mean leaving in the dark, often before public connections run reliably. Your chauffeur is outside the hotel at the agreed time, and we plan the drive with a buffer that reflects the day of the week and the season.
Three typical guests, three different needs
The Auersperg's location attracts a particular kind of traveller. We have shaped our routines around them.
Rail travellers
Platform pickup with train tracking. Ideal after night trains, with lots of luggage or in bad weather. For rides from the hotel to your train we also plan with a buffer.
Conference guests
The congress centre is on the same street. We collect delegations at the airport, move groups in a van and time return rides to the end of sessions.
Families
Infant carriers, child seats and boosters on request, plenty of room for pushchairs and travel cots. The chauffeur helps with getting in and out.
Luggage to the door
We carry suitcases, ski bags and instrument cases from the platform or baggage belt to the hotel entrance.
Around the clock
Early trains, late flights, night arrivals: you book the time that fits your journey.
Flat rate, no meter
The price is fixed before the ride and visible in the booking calculator. No extras for luggage or delays.
What we keep in mind on runs to Auerspergstrasse
VPC Chauffeur-Team
Chauffeurs and dispatch, VPC Premium Transfer
The Neustadt is a pleasant area for us to work in. Unlike the old town there are hardly any access restrictions, and Auerspergstrasse can be reached from several directions. When Rainerstrasse or the streets around the station are congested at rush hour, we switch to the parallel streets. For the guest this means predictable journey times, even on a Friday afternoon.
When there is a conference at the congress centre, the street gets busier. Before and after large events many vehicles are on the move, and coaches stop to pick up and drop off. During those weeks we agree with our guests exactly where we will wait and allow a few extra minutes. If you want to go from the conference straight to the airport, you can leave your luggage in the car in the morning or at the hotel; we collect it on the way.
For station pickups, communication is everything. We ask for the train number and, if known, the carriage number, and on the day of arrival we send the chauffeur's contact number. If a connecting train from Germany or Italy is running late, we see it and adjust the pickup. And one practical tip for families: tell us the age and rough height of your children when you book, and the right seat will already be fitted when you get in.

From the Neustadt into Salzburg province and beyond
Its location near the main station makes the Auersperg a good base for journeys that link several stops. Some guests come by train from Vienna, spend a few days in Salzburg and then travel on with us to Munich for their flight home. The drive to Munich Airport takes about an hour and 45 minutes depending on traffic, to Vienna Airport around three hours and 15 minutes. We drive both routes at a flat rate you can see upfront in the calculator.
Conference delegates often have an evening or a free day afterwards. A private excursion to the Salzkammergut, to Hallstatt or to Lake Wolfgang combines well with a transfer. A chauffeured city tour, stepping out at Mirabell, on the Kapuzinerberg or at Hellbrunn, is just as easy to arrange from here.
Families appreciate being able to make day trips without changing trains or buses. A day at a lake or in the mountains is far more relaxed with small children in your own vehicle. We stop whenever you want, and the child seats stay in the car all day.
In winter we also drive to the ski resorts of Salzburg province and Tyrol, such as Zell am See, Obertauern or Kitzbühel. If you arrive in Salzburg by train and spend a night at the Auersperg before heading to the mountains, you avoid changing trains with ski bags. On winter Saturdays, plan an early start, as the roads are usually quieter then.
