Via the Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse it really is only 10 to 12 minutes from the airport. The crucial part is the forecourt: Schwarzstrasse is a busy address between the Landestheater and Mirabell, and you need to know where you can stop briefly and legally for the luggage. When needed we coordinate with the doorman so stepping out right in front of the entrance goes smoothly.
My most important advice for departures: allow extra time on Festival evenings and Advent weekends. When there is a performance around the Landestheater or the Christmas market is full, traffic backs up around the Staatsbruecke. We know these patterns and set the departure time accordingly, so our guests never have to think about it. And if you pick up an Original Sacher-Torte as a gift after breakfast, we will gladly hold the boot open for it.
One more tip from the road: if you arrive via Munich, do not underestimate the transfer. The A8 can be slow on winter Saturdays, but in a private car it stays a relaxed drive, and many guests simply sleep. Hotel Sacher sits at Schwarzstrasse 5-7 on the right bank of the Salzach, between the Makartsteg footbridge and the Staatsbrücke. Schwarzstrasse is a narrow, busy riverside axis shared with city bus lines, and the hotel forecourt holds only two or three vehicles at a time.
