Your Chauffeur for the Sheraton Grand Salzburg

The Sheraton Grand Salzburg sits at Auerspergstrasse 4, right on the Kurgarten with its own access to the Mirabell Gardens. For arrivals this means one thing in practice: we almost always approach along the Rainerstrasse axis or come down Elisabethstrasse from the station, turn into Auerspergstrasse and stop directly on the forecourt in front of the main entrance. The forecourt is short and actively managed by hotel staff; idling and long waits are not tolerated there. So we time things so the car pulls up only when you are genuinely ready to leave, and on arrival the doorman takes your luggage while the chauffeur is still at the vehicle.

From Salzburg Airport the standard route runs along Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse, then depending on the time of day either through the Neutor tunnel via Neutorstrasse or around the outside across the Staatsbruecke. The chauffeur decides this live: the Neutor saves distance but clogs on weekdays between roughly 7:30 and 9:00 and again after 16:30. From the Hauptbahnhof it is barely five minutes via Elisabethstrasse, which matters most for Railjet arrivals from Vienna or Munich, when the chauffeur is already waiting at the south end of the platform so you never haul suitcases through the station concourse.

For conference guests the hotel's position is a genuine advantage worth planning around: Salzburg Congress is directly opposite, under two minutes on foot. Guests almost never book rides there, but they do book evening runs to the Residenz, up to the fortress or out to Hellbrunn Palace. On congress evenings with several hundred delegates, Auerspergstrasse sees a dense sequence of pickups from around 18:00. We stage the car five minutes early on Faberstrasse and roll up only on your call, so there is no idling and no waiting on your side.

The seasonal picture changes the maths considerably. During the Festival weeks from late July to late August, the old-town side becomes largely traffic-restricted from late afternoon; rides towards the Festspielhaus end at Herbert von Karajan Platz, and Hofstallgasse access requires special permits. In Advent, the Christmas markets at the cathedral and in the Mirabell Gardens, literally outside the hotel door, bring noticeably more pedestrians and coach traffic to Rainerstrasse at weekends. And on ski Saturdays in January and February we deliberately build 30 to 45 minutes of buffer into transfers towards Zell am See or Obertauern, because the Tauern motorway southbound reliably slows in the morning.

Minute by minute, an airport arrival runs like this: we track your flight before it lands. At touchdown the chauffeur moves into the short-stay zone; about ten minutes after landing he is standing in the Terminal 1 arrivals area with a name board, directly behind the sliding doors. SZG is small — gate to baggage belt is rarely more than a five-minute walk. After the greeting the chauffeur takes the luggage; the car is a few steps away. Roughly 25 minutes after landing you pull up on the Auerspergstrasse forecourt, where the doorman is already expecting you if we know your room reservation.
