Overview

Your private transfer between Salzburg Airport and Bad Hofgastein

Bad Hofgastein sits around 90 kilometres south of Salzburg, deep in the Gastein valley between the High Tauern mountains. The drive leads from Salzburg Airport (SZG) south along the Tauern motorway A10, past the Pass Lueg and through the Pongau basin near Bischofshofen, before the B167 main road climbs up the valley to Bad Hofgastein. With clear roads you reach your destination in about an hour. We know every kilometre of this route from hundreds of journeys and plan your pick-up so you arrive relaxed and unhurried.

Salzburg Airport is the nearest airport to Bad Hofgastein and the natural gateway for the entire Gastein valley. We meet you directly in the arrivals hall, carry your luggage and take you, without changes, waiting or any search for parking, straight to your hotel, your spa or your holiday apartment. Travellers arriving with skis, snowboards or several suitcases especially value that everything fits in one vehicle.

Our transfer is always bidirectional. We not only drive you from Salzburg to Bad Hofgastein, but bring you back to Salzburg Airport, the main station or any other address just as reliably at the end of your stay. We schedule your return with a comfortable time buffer so you reach check-in calmly, particularly in the winter season when the valley is busy.

Bad Hofgastein is both a spa town and a ski resort. In winter the Schlossalm cable car opens up the expansive Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel ski area, part of Ski amadé. In summer the Alpentherme Gastein draws guests with wellness, sauna and family pools. This year-round variety means we drive you in every season: for a ski holiday, a spa weekend, a hiking trip or a wellness cure.

From first contact to arrival, a dedicated point of contact looks after your journey. We track your flight live, adjust the pick-up time automatically if you are delayed, and travel in modern Mercedes E-Class and V-Class vehicles, with winter tyres as standard in the cold months and snow chains on board when needed. That turns the route between Salzburg and Bad Hofgastein from travel stress into the relaxed start of your stay.

Stefan Reiter, Senior Chauffeur and Gastein Valley Route Lead

The drive from Salzburg to Bad Hofgastein is one of my favourite routes. After Salzburg Airport we are quickly on the A10, and within minutes the mountains open up on either side. At the Pass Lueg the valley narrows dramatically, then the view widens into the Pongau basin. Near Bischofshofen we leave the motorway and follow the B167 up the Gastein valley. This final stretch winds along the Gasteiner Ache river, and in winter there is often snow here while Salzburg is still green. That is exactly why we drive the route with winter tyres all year round.

In winter, planning ahead is everything. On peak-season arrival Saturdays, traffic can build up in the Pongau and at the entrance to the valley, so I build in generous buffers for ski guests and watch the live traffic situation. If you would rather be dropped at the Schlossalm cable car base station in Bad Hofgastein instead of your hotel, just tell us in advance; it is no detour for us. We stow skis and boards securely in the vehicle so nothing shifts. In summer the route is more relaxed, and I often take guests straight to the Alpentherme or to the hiking trailheads at the Stubnerkogel.

My advice: book early, especially for arrival and departure days during the ski season, and give us your flight number. We track every landing, so no one is left stranded if a flight is delayed. For the return to Salzburg Airport I allow ample time for the mountain road and possible winter weather, so you reach check-in without stress. That way the journey into the Gastein valley becomes the relaxed first moment of your holiday, and the trip home a calm finish.
