Salzburg Airport to Maria Alm Transfer
Your private chauffeur takes you year-round from Salzburg Airport (SZG) to peaceful Maria Alm am Hochkönig and back: door to door, with genuine flight tracking and a personal welcome.
Arriving in Maria Alm, with no changes and no waiting
Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer lies around 85 kilometres south of Salzburg Airport (SZG), and with a clear road the drive takes about one hour and five minutes. We take the Tauern motorway A10 southbound, leave it near Bischofshofen and follow the B311 through the Salzach valley, past Saalfelden, until the striking Steinernes Meer and the Hochkönig open up ahead of you. It is one of the loveliest approaches in the region: wide valley floors, rugged limestone walls and, at the end, a village that has deliberately stayed quiet and family-oriented.
We drive this route in both directions, all year round. Whether you are arriving for the winter season in the Hochkönig ski area with its famous Königstour, coming in summer to hike and mountain bike, or needing to be back at Salzburg Airport in good time for your departure, we plan every journey around your flight times. From the terminal directly to your hotel, chalet or holiday apartment, with no stops and no strangers sharing the ride.
Maria Alm is a classic family destination, and our service is set up for exactly that. We bring suitable child seats and booster cushions when you note it in your enquiry, and our vehicles offer plenty of room for skis, snowboards, prams and the usual luggage of a family trip. You step in, settle back, and we take care of the rest of the way.
The nearest airport for Maria Alm is clearly Salzburg (SZG): close enough for a short, relaxed transfer and well connected to international routes. If you arrive via Munich, Vienna or Innsbruck we are of course happy to collect you there too, but for most guests Salzburg is the natural and fastest choice for reaching the Hochkönig.
As a local operator we know the quirks of this route: where traffic towards Saalfelden builds up on winter Saturdays, when the B311 runs freely, and where the final bends before Maria Alm demand respect in snow. That experience goes into every journey, so that you arrive on time, safely and without stress.

What makes this route special
Stefan Reiter
Stefan Reiter, Senior Chauffeur and Hochkönig Route Lead
The approach to Maria Alm is one of my favourites all year. Once we leave the A10 near Bischofshofen the valley opens up, and by the time we are past Saalfelden the Hochkönig stands ahead like a wall. In winter I deliberately plan the journey with a little buffer, because traffic before Saalfelden can crawl on arrival Saturdays. Guests who reach the terminal early arrive relaxed, and that is exactly why I track every flight personally.
In winter it is the final stretch that matters most. The roads around Maria Alm are well cleared, but after fresh snowfall I take the bends calmly and with due respect. Our vehicles run winter tyres and I always carry snow chains. For guests heading to the Königstour or the vast Hochkönig ski area, that is the decisive difference: you arrive safely and on time at the valley station or the chalet.
In summer the same route is a pleasure. I like to take a moment to show guests where the view of the Steinernes Meer opens up most beautifully. Maria Alm is deliberately not a loud destination, and my passengers feel that already on the way in. Whether a family with child seats in summer or a ski group in winter, I treat every journey as if I were bringing friends to their favourite spot on the Hochkönig.
