Overview

Your private chauffeur between Salzburg Airport and Saalbach Hinterglemm

Saalbach Hinterglemm is part of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, one of the largest connected ski areas in Austria. When you arrive, the last thing you want is to change vehicles, wait around or haul ski bags through stations. That is exactly what our private transfer removes: we collect you directly at Salzburg Airport (SZG) and take you, without any stop, right to the door of your hotel, chalet or apartment in the Glemm valley.

The route is one we know intimately. From Salzburg Airport we join the A10 Tauern motorway heading south, switch at Bischofshofen onto the B311 through the Salzach valley, and finally turn onto the B164 into the Glemm valley, past Maishofen and Saalfelden into Saalbach and on to Hinterglemm. About 95 kilometres, typically around 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on weather, traffic and the winter season.

Salzburg Airport is the nearest international airport for Saalbach Hinterglemm and therefore your natural gateway. We drive the route in both directions: from the airport into the valley for your ski holiday, and on departure day back to the terminal in good time, with a comfortable buffer for check-in and security. On request we also connect Saalbach with Salzburg old town, the main station or other airports in the region.

Our service is not limited to winter. In summer, Saalbach Hinterglemm becomes one of the best known bike park destinations in the Alps, with lifts, trails and hiking paths around the Kohlmaiskopf and the Schattberg area. Whether it is a ski case in February or a mountain bike in July, we plan the right vehicle and the necessary luggage space in advance.

Everything runs at an agreed flat rate. You book through our booking calculator or the inquiry form, receive a clear confirmation and know in advance exactly what the transfer costs, with no surprises for snow, night driving or waiting time. Your chauffeur tracks your flight in real time and is there when you land.

From the road

What really matters on the drive into the Glemm valley

Stefan Reiter, Senior Chauffeur and Alpine Route Specialist at VPC Premium Transfer

I have driven the route from Salzburg Airport to Saalbach Hinterglemm for many years, in summer and winter alike. The decisive stretch is not the motorway but the final kilometres on the B164 into the Glemm valley. When it snows, the road between Maishofen and Hinterglemm can turn slippery quickly. That is why in winter I always run mounted winter tyres with chains on board, and would rather allow ten extra minutes than feel rushed on the mountain.

My second tip concerns departure. On Saturdays, the classic changeover day in the Skicircus, the valley and the B311 are busier. If you have a morning flight from Salzburg, set off early with me. I always calculate the pickup time backwards from your departure, including a buffer for traffic and check-in, so you sit relaxed at the gate rather than watching the clock.

And one final thought from experience: Salzburg Airport is small and easy to navigate, which makes meeting up simple. I wait for you in the arrivals hall after baggage reclaim with a name sign, help with ski cases and bikes, and walk you straight to the vehicle. No searching, no waiting in the cold. It is exactly this calm reliability that brings our guests back year after year.
